A Look in my Closet: OOTD

It has been a while since I have given you guys a peek into my closet at some of the outfits I have been wearing.  It has been crazy busy, but I did remember to snap some pictures of a few of my recent outfits.  While many of these pieces are no longer available, I have found pieces for you that are similar.  My hope with posting these outfits is that you will use them as inspiration to create your own looks.  That is what I do all the time.  I gain inspiration from all over the place.  I love taking something that is already in my closet and pairing it with something new, which is what I have done with most of these outfits. It is like taking something old and making it current and on trend again.  Check them all out.

A Look in my Closet:OOTD

Fall is finally here where I live.  We experienced some really hot days at the end of September and beginning of October, but we finally cooled down towards the end of last week. I couldn’t be happier! In case you forgot, fall is my favorite season.  I love the cool, crisp air and the gorgeous changing leaves. Cooler temps means a change in my wardrobe.  It isn’t cool enough yet to pull out my sweaters and stuff, but it is cool enough to wear more than shorts and a top.  Today, I wanted to show you how you can take a plain t-shirt from your summer wardrobe and spruce it up for fall. I did this by adding things I already had in my closet.  It is a peek into my closet but with a theme today.  I took a navy, black, white, grey, and olive green t-shirt and turned them into cute fall outfits.   All I did was add some accessories and cute shoes.

A Look in my Closet: OOTD

I just got back yesterday from a truly inspiring trip to Florida for our Trades of Hope Retreat. As I promised last week, I will be showing you today what I wore each day from start to finish on the trip.  I do have pictures from the actual event, but they all have friends in them that I am not sure would want their faces on my blog. I was so wrapped up in the moment that I didn’t remember to have my picture taken alone in each outfit.  Sorry about that!   Anyway, I put everything back on this morning and photographed it all really quick. These aren’t the best quality of pictures since I did it hurriedly this morning, but you will get the idea.  I will share more with you tomorrow about the experience as a whole, but I wanted to take today just to show you my outfits. Many of these things you have seen before, but I wanted to show you how you can take what you already have in your closet and make it work.

Thursday: Travel

I always want to be comfortable when I am traveling.  I decided to go with a pair of jeans because it is usually cold on an airplane.  I paired it with this cute t-shirt and a pair of Converse shoes, which are easy to slip  on and off when going through airport security.

Thursday Evening: Resort Casual

For the kickoff event on Thursday evening, we were told to come in “Resort Casual.” I wasn’t really sure what that meant exactly, so I decided to go with this floral maxi dress from Lularoe.  I thought the tropical print and laid back style of the dress was casual yet screamed resort vacation.

Friday: Team Tee/Business Casual

For the morning and afternoon sessions, we were told the attire was “business casual.” However, Friday was the day we were also supposed to wear our team t-shirts.  How do you make a t-shirt look business casual? You add a pair or white jeans, sandals, and a cute silky kimono. The kimono also doubled as added warmth because the rooms were freezing cold!

Saturday Evening: Glam it up

This night was party night with our big gala. My team was supposed to wear something with flowers. After a lot of searching and trying on, I finally found this cute dress at Macy’s. It was my one splurge for the trip. I paired it with a pair of heels that I have had for years.

Sunday: Travel

My travel outfit for the plane ride home was super similar to my travel outfit on the way there.  I went with jeans, a t-shirt, and Converse shoes again for comfort. I paired it with another Lularoe kimono to keep me warm on the plane.

A Look in My Closet: OOTD

Summer hit full force near the end of last week.  At one point on Saturday when I got it my car, the thermostat said 100 degrees.  I don’t even know what the heat index was, but it was HOT! I really thought that I was escaping 100 degree or more temps when I left South Georgia! I guess I was wrong.  Hopefully it won’t last long and the cooler days will come back.  I was out Saturday in the heat doing a little formal gown shopping for a Gala I have coming up this weekend.  I will show you what dress I picked next week along with all of my outfit choices for our Trades of Hope Inspire Retreat.  I am so excited and cannot wait for Thursday to get here. Anyway, it has been a while since I have let you have a peek into my closet so I figured that it was about time to show you what I have been wearing this past week.

A Look Into My Closet: OOTD

I decided that it has been too long since I gave you guys a look into my closet to see what I have been wearing, especially now that the warmer weather has hit.  You guys all know that I am all about affordable fashion. I believe that you don’t have to spend a fortune on a shirt or dress to look cute and fashionable.  Therefore, I love shopping at outlet stores.  While I was at the beach a few weeks ago, my friends and I went shopping at a small outlet mall. We found some great deals, so several of these pieces were outlet finds.  My favorite outlet shops to hit are LoftGap, Banana RepublicJ. Crew, and Norstrom Rack. The Loft Outlet currently has 20% off $100 with the code HELLO20.

A Look into my Closet: OOTD

I am sad to say that I didn’t get my Friday Favorites post up last week, but it was for a good reason! My oldest was competing in her first high school state championship meet all day Friday and her team won!!! They are State Champions for the second year in a row! They blew the completion away, but it was still a nail biter for the parents! Man those things are stressful for all of us watching in the stands trying to calculate the scores from all the other schools and make sure we stayed on top after each event.  I think all of the moms were holding their breaths as each one of our girls got up to compete. Then we turned around and did the same thing the next day for the individual state championships.  My daughter competed on bars on Saturday.  It wasn’t her best performance by far with a fall (she never falls on bars), but, in her defense, they were all thoroughly exhausted after Friday. I am proud of her for giving it her best effort! She was bummed, but I think most of it was just pure exhaustion.

Anyway, on to the topic of today….a peek in my closet.  I have had really good responses and feedback from when I did these posts in the past so I will try to do them one or two times a month.  As I have said before, many of the things in my closet are things that I have had for a long time and are no longer available for purchase.  I always try to find something similar for you, but the point of these posts is for you to get inspiration to put together outfits from things you already have in your closet.  You don’t need to copy my exact outfit.  Just be inspired.  Some of the pieces I have shown before when I have done my selfie shots in the dressing rooms of my favorite stores.  You can see how I put those pieces together in an outfit.

We had a very nice and relaxing weekend, which I am really happy about because we will be traveling for the next 7 weekends straight for either gymnastics or cheer.  When I say traveling, I mean really traveling, too. We aren’t just going to surrounding cities. We are traveling out of state multiple times. I am not looking forward to it.  Don’t get me wrong, I love watching my kids compete, but I know that it is going to be exhausting.  My husband and I even have to divide and conquer for the first time, as there are times that both girls have a competition on the same weekend in totally opposite directions.   That should be very interesting since my husband has never taken one of them to a competition alone locally or out of state.  There is some worry about how hair is going to get done, but I have faith that it will all work out.  I think my daughter and I are much more worried about it than he is, of course.  Anyway, things are about to get crazy around here so I really enjoyed doing nothing for a couple of days.

Today I am giving you another look into my closet to see what I have been wearing over the past week. As usual, many of the pieces that I am wearing are piece that I have had for a while and are no longer available for purchase.  I have tried to find some similar pieces where you can get a similar look.  My goal is for you to uses these posts as inspiration to up your wardrobe either by using things you already own to create a similar look or by purchasing items that fit your style.

A Look in my Closet: OOTD

It is a winter wonderland at my house today.  It started snowing Saturday  and didn’t stop until sometime during the night last night. I can hear the sounds of snow shovels all over the neighborhood this morning.  The girls are out of school today and I am sure they will start to get cabin fever by this afternoon.  They were outside playing in the snow most of the morning yesterday, and I expect that they will be out there today too once they both wake up. Over 24 hours of snowfall left us stuck in the house all day yesterday, so I was able to get a jump-start on purging before the move.  I will show you what I did on Wednesday.

Today, I am going to give you another peek into my closet with my outfit of the day (OOTD) from each day last week.  As I mentioned before, I get up and get ready every single day with a cute outfit and makeup. It just makes me feel better and more productive. We didn’t have too much going on last week so most of my outfits this week were a little more casual than last week.  In fact, one day was just jeans and a hoodie with my daughter’s high school team on it because she had a gymnastics meet that day, and I had to represent. I will spare you pictures of that outfit! I really just wanted to show you how you can be casual and comfortable and still look cute and feel great about yourself.

SUNDAY:

MONDAY:

TUESDAY:

I think I’ve shown you this outfit before, but it is one of my favorites. I love how simple it is.

WEDNESDAY:

FRIDIAY:

This outfit is so comfortable but cute at the same time. You won’t believe that these leggings came from Walmart and are as soft as can be! I love them. Oh, and let’s not forget that this sweatshirt has pockets!

SATURDAY:

I love the pop of color with this outfit in the red earrings. This is our dog, Bella. I couldn’t keep her away long enough to snap the picture. She clearly wanted to be in it with me. LOL! Look at all that snow, too!

That’s a look in my closet. I hope you find something that inspires you to get up and get yourself ready to take on the day!

A Look into my Closet-OOTD

When I was working full time, I dressed up every single day except some Fridays when we were allowed to wear jeans and a school t-shirt with tennis shoes.  I wore dresses, skirts, dress pants, and nice tops every day.  When the weekends would roll around, I would still dress nicely.  It may have been a nice top with jeans and cute shoes, but it was never really what I call “crummy clothes” unless I was sick or cleaning all day and not leaving the house. My oldest will tell you that I am always fussing at her for wearing “crummy” clothes all the time. She lives in athletic clothes or a t-shirt and jeans or shorts all the time, even to go out to dinner or out with friends. It drives me nuts. My youngest is more like me and wears dresses just to hang around the house. You never know what is going to go on in a day or who you are going to run in to. Don’t you want to look your best?

I have always had the mindset of dressing up. You guys know that I am a little obsessed (okay, a lot obsessed) with clothes.  I have all of these nice clothes, so why not wear them? I have also always had the mindset that a person should always try to look their best no matter what is going on.  Looking cute just makes you feel better and more productive.  I don’t know about you but when I dress “crummy,” I feel lazier and just want to sit around and do nothing.  Don’t get me wrong, I do like those days every now and then, but for the most part, I get up, shower, put on makeup, and get dressed almost every day of the year.  I was the girl that was in labor that showered, put on makeup, and dressed cute before leaving to go to the hospital.  Then while I was still in the hospital, I made myself get up and shower and get dressed just to sit in the hospital bed.  Even now that I am not working and I am home most of the day, I still get up and get dressed every day. I have dropped my daughter off at gymnastics wearing a dress and people have ask me if I was going somewhere that day to be all dressed up.  The answer was usually no. I just wanted to look good. I don’t see it as getting dressed up or looking fancy. I see is as just wanting to look good and feel good about myself. It is just part of my nature.  I truly believe that how you dress yourself daily is a reflection of the person you are and a reflection of your drive and ambition.  I could totally sit around in sweats and hoodies or yoga pants all day or even stay in my pajama pants, but that’s not who I am.  I can still be comfortable and look cute.  It is possible.  I have decided that a couple of times a month, I will just show you what I wore during that week so you can see what I wear on a daily basis.

Here is what I wore this past week. You can see that some outfits are very casual, but they are still cute. They don’t look or make me feel “crummy.” They make me feel confident and ready to face the day.

As you can see, several of the outfits are pretty casual, but they are still cute. It is so important to feel good about yourself.  The perfect outfit can always give you a boost of confidence.  Always be dressed for success no matter what is going on in your life.  Now, go get up and get dressed.
