Fashion Finds: Grace & Lace

I have shared many times about my passion for buying better and supporting small businesses.  I want to support companies that are doing good things and are making a difference in the world.  I recently came across a company that was once featured on the popular TV show,Shark Tank, called Grace & Lace.  You may have seen it advertised in your Facebook feed as it has popped up a few times in mine.  I decided to check out their website because there were some cute things that caught my eye.  Upon further digging, I discovered that this is a company that is doing some incredible things.  They partner with Angel House which is a company that builds homes for abandoned children.  A portion of every sale through Grace & Lace is given to Angel House to build orphanages in India. As of 2019 Grace & Lace has built 12 orphanages housing over 600 children, become the directors of a school in India that houses over 400 male orphans, opened their first Freedom Home which has saved 65 girls from trafficking, and so much more. The work they are able to do from the sale of their beautiful pieces is incredible. This is a company that I can get behind and will gladly give my business.  While you may view some items as higher priced than many of the things that I normally share on here, I feel that the benefit of what your purchase is doing, far outweighs the few extra dollars.  You can read more about the good this company is doing here

Check out some of the pieces that I am loving from their current collection. Keep in mind that they are a small business and many sizes and prints sell out quickly.  If you see something you love, grab it right away!

Fashion Finds: Amazon

Today I thought I would share with you some things that have been sitting in my Amazon cart waiting for me to pull the trigger.  As always whenever you are looking to buy clothes on Amazon, I recommend that you check out the reviews before buying.  I never buy anything with a rating below 4 stars, and I typically go through several pages of reviews before I make my decision.  People are usually pretty honest when it comes to the fit, fabric, and quality of pieces.  Now, that is not to say that sometimes I read the reviews and then still receive a piece that I think is subpar.  In those instances, I return it right away.  For the most part, though, I have found the reviews to be a good indicator of the quality of the piece and also of the sizing.  Some of these pieces are even recommended by fellow bloggers that I follow and trust.   Anyway, I just wanted to throw that in there so you know you sound always check the reviews.  These pieces are super cute, and I feel certain that I will purchase a few of them at some point in the future.

Fashion Finds: Loft Outlet

My favorite time to shop at the Loft Outlet is during in late spring in preparation for summer.  I go to one of the Loft Outlet stores every year in May when I am on my annual girls’ beach trip and stock up for the summer.  Sadly, that has been delayed this year, but I hope it is happening this month.  Anyway, I always find cute pieces to add to my wardrobe.  I love their shorts, especially. They are super cute and fit really well on me. I do typically size down one size in most Loft clothes from my usual size.  I feel like their stuff runs a little bigger in general.  I also always love their summer dresses and rompers and jumpsuits.  I love the classic shapes and styles that that are known for.  Their clothes are really well made and hold up well in the wash.  Check out these cute new arrivals at great discounted prices.  Plus, you can get at extra 15% off an order of 4+ items with the code SUN.

Fashion Finds: Target

Well, I am still having to do online browsing for you guys instead of trying things on. If you haven’t figured it out by now, I very much prefer to try things on before I recommend them to you all.  It is super hard to tell if I really like something without seeing it on me, and many of the newest pieces that are released do not even have the item pictured on a real person since they can’t do photo sessions either.  It just makes it even harder to tell the length of dresses and shorts and how things look on a person.  I have to roll with what I’ve got for now.  Target has recently added a few new items online that look promising, so I thought I would share my picks from their new releases. I am hoping that I will finally be able to go by there in the next couple of week as restrictions are lifted to do a little try on session with ALL the things! Until then…check out the things I am eyeing online.

Fashion Finds: Swimsuit Cover-Ups

Last week I shared some really cute swimsuits with you in the hopes that we will all get to use them this year whenever we get out of quarantine.  My hopes are still high since some states have opened up beaches already. Hopefully, we will get there at some point this year. Sadly, I don’t think my annual girls beach weekend is going to happen, but maybe we will at least get to use the neighborhood pool at some point in the near future.  Although it is still cold and rainy here, I know the sun is shining somewhere.  In the event that you snagged yourself one of the swimsuits I shared or found your own, I figured you would need an equally cute cover-up to go with it.  I have found some really nice ones for you.  Check them out!

Fashion Finds: Swimsuits

I know that the summer months are still up in the air across the country.  We don’t know if we will get to take our summer vacations, go to the pool or beach, or what those hot summer days will look like this year.  At this point, many have already canceled their vacations and are proclaiming that summer is canceled.  I am still holding out hope…hope that life will begin to look more normal little by little.  I know that some states have already begun to do a phased opening, and some have already opened beaches back up.  I don’t think we are close to that yet where I live, but my hope remains.  That is why I have decided to go ahead with my planned post of sharing some adorable bathing suits I have found for you.  Last year I discovered a company called Cupshe, and I purchased my first bathing suit from them.  I loved it so much that I may never buy a suit from anywhere else again.  Not only do they offer affordable suits that fit great, but they are also adorable and come in every style you can imagine.  They even have styles for all body types and sizes (XS-Plus).  I recommend that you follow the size chart and go with your measurements. That worked great for me last year, and my suit fit perfectly.  I am still trying to narrow it down to which one I want to order for this year because I am still holding out a speck of hope that my annual girls’ beach trip isn’t going to get canceled. I know I am likely delusional, but I have to still have faith.

Fashion Finds: Sandals

I know that none of us are really going anywhere these days and shoes are optional, but I thought a little shoe shopping wouldn’t hurt.  This has to end at some point, right? Anyway, I was going to pick some of my favorite sandals from various stores, but I made the mistake of looking at Target first and never got past there.  There were so many cute and affordable ones there that I just decided to share those for today.  I actually had to limit myself from posting every single sandal on their site because that would have been way too many.  Here are some of my favorite sandals at Target right now.  There are a few colors that are sold out online. Some say they are only temporarily unavailable so keep checking back if there is one you love or sign up to be notified by email when it is back in stock.  You also may be able to find it in the stores once we are all back to normal and can go shoe shopping for real.

Fashion Finds: Target

It is absolutely killing me that I cannot go to Target and do a try on session with all of the new spring clothes.  Browsing the racks at Target while filling my cart with cute pieces to try on is one of my most favorite things to do.  Unfortunately, I am not willing to risk my health or that of my family members even for Target.  It is a hard choice! Ha ha! Just kidding! For real though, I am going to be having some serious Target withdrawals by the time this is all over. For now, I will just have to live with perusing the website from my house instead.  It isn’t nearly as fun, though, especially when I see all the adorable pieces that they have added for spring.  I picked a few to share with you that I can’t wait to actually try on whenever this whole virus thing is over.  As you can see from my pics, ruffles and tie-dye/acid wash are really in for spring.  I love the way that the ruffles add a feminine touch to a simple t-shirt or dress.  So cute! You will also notice that I couldn’t decide on which color or print I liked best in a few of the items, so I figured I would just share all the ones I liked with you. Check out all the awesomeness that I found.

Fashion Finds: Spring Purses

Obviously, I am not going anywhere to do any dressing room try-on sessions anytime in the near future with what is going on in the world right now.  I guess it will have to be a lot of online window shopping for now. I hope you are all staying healthy inside as well.

Although the official start of it isn’t until Friday, spring is definitely in the air.  Trees and flowers are starting to bloom, and temperatures are starting to warm up.  I am in the mood for some spring shopping. Today I have some cute spring purses for you that are totally on trend for Spring 2020.  Check them out.

Straw bags are really popular for spring, and I have found some really cute ones.  I love the natural look of these.

Buy Better

Since I became involved with Trades of Hope, I have learned more and more about Fair Trade and what it means.  Fair Trade companies are held to high standards that ensure that individuals receive a fair, living wage in a safe and secure working environment. That living wage includes enough money for food, shelter, education, and more. The fair trade movement is bringing equitable and sustainable employment and creating opportunities to end the poverty cycle in some of the poorest areas of the world. It is a partnership between artisans and farmers in developing countries where products are traded for fair prices. Prior to learning about fair trade, I really never thought about where my clothes and things were coming from. I had heard of sweatshops, but I never really thought about how my shopping habits affected that. I was basically blissfully unaware. Thankfully, I am now trying to make a conscious effort to buy better. I am also becoming more aware of brands that are socially conscious. These are brands that align with a cause to promote social responsibility as a way to make the world a better place.  They are brands that are trying to make a difference. I am actively seeking out companies that are fair trade and are doing amazing things, as well as ethical fashion that gives back and creates employment opportunities. I am searching for artisan and ethically made products.  I am more in tune to where the things I buy are coming from and who made them. Does that mean that I am only purchasing fair trade? No, it doesn’t, but I am trying to do better and be more conscious. I will admit that ethically made clothing can be more expensive which makes it harder to justify a purchase. However, knowing that some companies who offer more affordable items operate some of the largest sweatshops out there, makes me not want to buy from them at all. I am willing to pay more if it means that we can put an end to the use of sweatshops and make a difference in the world. Today, I wanted to share with you a few of the companies that I have found that offer some really great products. These brands are either fair trade or socially conscious brands that are making a difference in the world. I have chosen one thing from their website that I love to also share. I encourage you to check them out and choose to buy better for yourself.
