Fashion Finds: Walmart

I have told you all many times before that Walmart is really trying to step up their style game.  You really have to take your time and look to find them, but you can find some really cute pieces there for great prices. I did a little dressing room photo shoot for you guys with some of the adorable pieces I found over the weekend. I will say that the photo quality is not that great.  My Walmart’s dressing rooms are super small and dark, and the mirror is right next to the wall, so it was hard to get good pics.  I tried to edit them to brighten them a little bit, but they still aren’t great. Oh, I can’t forget to mention the multiple layers of dust on the mirror, which makes the pictures look grainy too. Sorry about that! I just had to go with it.  As you will see from the pictures, plaid, camo, animal print (especially snake print), and shades of cranberry, mustard, and olive are really popular for fall. While I did find some cute clothes, my favorite finds were in the shoe and purse departments. Check them out below.

Fashion Finds: Target

I follow a bunch of people on Instagram that post Target finds all the time.  I have been seeing some really cute things in their feeds, so I decided to head to my favorite store and see what I could find. Surprisingly, a lot of the pieces they had been posting were not at my Target, but I did find my own cute pieces that are perfect for this time of year when the cooler fall temps start creeping in. There were tons of cute cardigans that are perfect for layering during the cool mornings and evenings, and there were several cute dresses.  Animal print is huge again this season and it was all over the place.  I’ll do another post about just animal print coming up. Check out my finds.

Shirt (Green/Black)

Hoodie

Blouse (not available online)/Necklace

Cardigan/Necklace

Dress/Necklace

I think this dress is the perfect color for fall and would look adorable with a denim jacket. The website says that it is brown, but I think it is more of a burnt orange color. I will caution you, though, because the hook to hold the top together in front to keep from showing everyone your business is not very well made.  It can open very easily, which is not really great for bustier ladies!

Dress/Necklace

I absolutely adored this dress.  However, it was a bit short on me for my comfort level. I considered purchasing it in a smaller size for my teen, but I highly doubt she would wear it.  On the other hand, my husband says that it looks like I stepped out of the Flintstones cartoon, so there’s that. I still think it is really cute!

Cardigan/Long Sleeve T-shirt/Necklace

Oversized Waffle Cardigan/Long Sleeve T-shirt/Necklace

This cardigan is designed to be oversized.  However, I am wearing the M/L in this picture, but I think if I were to buy it, I would go with an XS/S. I felt like it was a little too oversized for me.  It comes in a few colors and is super soft and lightweight.

Dress/Cardigan

Dress (not available online)/Necklace

This dress is super soft and also comes in pink.  It would be great with a denim jacket or with a cute pair of leggings.

Dolman Sleeve Sweater/Jeans/Necklace

Leopard Sweater/Necklace

Sweater/Jeans/Necklace

Head over to your local Target and check out these cute pieces and so much more to give your fall wardrobe a little update.

Fashion Finds: Jewelry

I love jewelry.  I have so much that it takes some time in the morning to choose what I am going to wear each day.  It is a very rare occasion that you will see me without any jewelry on.  I always have on at least earrings and my wedding rings, but I will usually add another ring to my right hand too.  Today, I picked some really cute pieces from my favorite stores. Like with clothes, I am always looking for inexpensive things to add to my wardrobe so all of these pieces are very affordable.  Jewelry is a great way to update an outfit or to take it to the next level.

Gold is also making a comeback and is very trendy, so don’t be afraid of it. The Sunburst Necklace from J. Crew and the Ravi Necklace from Trades of Hope are bold statement pieces that will add a little pizzaz to any outfit. It is all just so fun! Happy shopping!

Fashion Finds: Amazon

Amazon is getting better and better with their clothing options.  I used to be afraid to order clothes from there, but lately I have found several things that are really good quality pieces.  Now, I will admit that there are still those times when I order something and it turns out to be cheap and not good quality or nothing like the picture, but for the most part I have been pleased.  I have found that you really have to do your research when ordering clothes or really anything from there.  Read the comments. Don’t just read the top few.  Go several pages deep and read.  Look at the pictures of people wearing the pieces in the reviews. This really helps me.

Check out these adorable pieces I found while “window shopping” on Amazon. They all have great reviews and come in a variety of options/colors.

Fashion Finds: Target

I was beginning to have Target withdrawals because I haven’t been in a few weeks.  I’ve been too busy to get over there.  Anyway, I made it over to check out what new things they have. They still have their bathing suit section out, but they are beginning to get in a few fall pieces as well.  I have a variety of things to show you that I loved and a couple that I didn’t love that much on me but thought some of you might like.  One thing that I did discover is that animal print is still in, which is happy news for me since I love it so much.  It was everywhere in shoes, clothes, and accessories.  Last year it was all about the leopard print.  While that is still super popular, I also saw a lot of snakeskin, zebra, cheetah, and tortoise shell prints.  I will write about other fall trends I am seeing in the coming weeks.  For some reason, many of these pieces are not available online, but they are available in the stores. Sorry about that! Here is what’s new at Target. Please disregard the choice of shoes with these outfits. Obviously I chose the wrong ones to wear for trying clothes on.

Dress/Belt

This super comfortable tank dress was a winner for me simply because it has pockets.  I wanted to show you one way that you could subtly add in a little animal print with this dress just by switching out the belt with a leopard printed one.

Dress (available only in stores)

While I didn’t love this style of dress on me, I know that I have some readers that would love this more conservative way of adding in animal print.

Blouse/Pants

Dress (available only in stores)

I really didn’t think I was going to like this simple dress when I picked it up, but I actually ended up loving it when I got it on.

Dress (available only in stores)

This is another one that I did not love on me, but I know that some of you love a good shirt dress. It’s cute, but it’s just not my style. I would probably consider it if I was still teaching and needed to dress up every day. I just don’t think I would wear it now.   I may even change up the belt with a solid black one to give it some more contrast and to tone down the print.

Top (available only in stores)

Jump Suit (only available in stores)

I am absolutely in love with this jumper! It is so cute!

Dress/Jacket

This cute little dress can be worn now and in the fall with the simple addition of a jean jacket or cardigan.

Top/Skirt

Sweatshirt/Jeans (only available in stores)

Top/Jeans

I’m obsessed with this boat-neck top!

Purse/Clutch/Crossbody/Scarf/Earrings/Necklace

There was just so much goodness and so much animal print! I had a hard time resisting it all! Head over to Target, get your shop on, and maybe unlock your inner animal.

A Look in my Closet: OOTD

I just got back yesterday from a truly inspiring trip to Florida for our Trades of Hope Retreat. As I promised last week, I will be showing you today what I wore each day from start to finish on the trip.  I do have pictures from the actual event, but they all have friends in them that I am not sure would want their faces on my blog. I was so wrapped up in the moment that I didn’t remember to have my picture taken alone in each outfit.  Sorry about that!   Anyway, I put everything back on this morning and photographed it all really quick. These aren’t the best quality of pictures since I did it hurriedly this morning, but you will get the idea.  I will share more with you tomorrow about the experience as a whole, but I wanted to take today just to show you my outfits. Many of these things you have seen before, but I wanted to show you how you can take what you already have in your closet and make it work.

Thursday: Travel

I always want to be comfortable when I am traveling.  I decided to go with a pair of jeans because it is usually cold on an airplane.  I paired it with this cute t-shirt and a pair of Converse shoes, which are easy to slip  on and off when going through airport security.

Thursday Evening: Resort Casual

For the kickoff event on Thursday evening, we were told to come in “Resort Casual.” I wasn’t really sure what that meant exactly, so I decided to go with this floral maxi dress from Lularoe.  I thought the tropical print and laid back style of the dress was casual yet screamed resort vacation.

Friday: Team Tee/Business Casual

For the morning and afternoon sessions, we were told the attire was “business casual.” However, Friday was the day we were also supposed to wear our team t-shirts.  How do you make a t-shirt look business casual? You add a pair or white jeans, sandals, and a cute silky kimono. The kimono also doubled as added warmth because the rooms were freezing cold!

This night was party night with our big gala. My team was supposed to wear something with flowers. After a lot of searching and trying on, I finally found this cute dress at Macy’s. It was my one splurge for the trip. I paired it with a pair of heels that I have had for years.

Sunday: Travel

My travel outfit for the plane ride home was super similar to my travel outfit on the way there.  I went with jeans, a t-shirt, and Converse shoes again for comfort. I paired it with another Lularoe kimono to keep me warm on the plane.

A Look in My Closet: OOTD

Summer hit full force near the end of last week.  At one point on Saturday when I got it my car, the thermostat said 100 degrees.  I don’t even know what the heat index was, but it was HOT! I really thought that I was escaping 100 degree or more temps when I left South Georgia! I guess I was wrong.  Hopefully it won’t last long and the cooler days will come back.  I was out Saturday in the heat doing a little formal gown shopping for a Gala I have coming up this weekend.  I will show you what dress I picked next week along with all of my outfit choices for our Trades of Hope Inspire Retreat.  I am so excited and cannot wait for Thursday to get here. Anyway, it has been a while since I have let you have a peek into my closet so I figured that it was about time to show you what I have been wearing this past week.

Fashion Finds: Cupshe

This past weekend my family and I went to a water park.  As I was walking around, I was doing a lot of people watching.  I was checking out other women’s swimsuits. There were some that I thought were super cute and others not so much.  I actually got several comments on the swimsuit that I was wearing. One time I was in the bathroom washing my hands and a lady told me how cute it was and asked where I got it from. She then proceeded to tell me how difficult it had been for her to find a suit that she thought was cute, that fit her body type, and that didn’t break the bank.  I could sympathize with her because I have spent many days myself, trying on suit after suit trying to find one that made me comfortable.  Throughout most of my life I wore two-piece swimsuits, specifically bikinis.  Then after I had my second daughter, I no longer felt comfortable in a bikini so I moved to tankinis.  I am have a very long torso and have never thought that I looked good in a one piece swimsuit.  They just don’t fit me right.  The problem for me was finding a tankini that I actually liked and that didn’t make me feel like an old lady or that had a top that wasn’t so flowy that I felt like I looked like I was still pregnant.  Anyway, that is what I have worn for the past several years and I needed something new and fresh that made me feel good.

Over the past year and a half or so, I have lost weight and started feeling better about my body.  I started seeing these ads for these super cute swimsuits throughout my Facebook and Instagram feeds from a company called Cupshe.  Many of them were the high-waisted bikinis. It is so funny to me that this trend from the 70’s is back.  Anyway, I was very intrigued by this style of suit and thought maybe it was the solution to my swimsuit woes.  While I was super hesitant to purchase a swimsuit from an ad on social media without even seeing it in person and trying it on, I decided to go for it.  The price was good and there were really good reviews, so what did I really have to loose?  Plus, I had seen a few other bloggers post about swimsuits from this same company. The problem then became which one to choose.  There are tons of them and they are all adorable.  I finally decided on one and then started to get cold feet again. Who really buys a swimsuit they haven’t tried on? Am I too old to wear a suit like that? What size do I even get? These were the thoughts running through my head trying to talk me out of the purchase.  This was all just before my annual girls’ trip to the beach so I had to make a decision because I needed a new swimsuit.  I finally decided to pull the trigger and go for it.  I actually ended up purchasing it from Amazon instead of the Cupshe website directly because I needed the prime shipping.  I needed it fast.  I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived.  It fit perfectly, and it is definitely a good quality suit.  To top it all off, it is so cute! I am in love with it and will definitely purchase swimsuits from them again.  I will spare you the picture of me in the suit, but you can see the one that I chose below. Unfortunately it is no longer available on the Cupshe site, but you can still snag it on Amazon.

I have gone through the numerous suits that they have in stock right now and have chosen some of my favorites in different styles.  It was really hard to narrow it down to just a few! I highly recommend their suits. They are so adorable and they are super affordable.  I recommend that you use the size chart that is on the Cupshe website for each suit to determine the best size for you. If you are between sizes, I would size up.  That is what I did, and it is a perfect fit. I have also included the links to the Cupshe site as well as Amazon (if available) in case you are in a hurry like me. They are having a sale on the Cupshe site right now with some suits up to 70% off. You could also get 15% off an order of $75+ by entering your email to subscribe.

I like stripes, polka dots, all shades of blue, and halter tops! Sorry! That’s just what I am drawn too. I did try to pick a few different styles, too, though. Happy Shopping!

One Dress, 7 Ways

Today I want to talk about one of my favorite pieces for the summer.  I love a good maxi dress.  They are so easy to throw on and dress up or dress down.  I wear them with slip-on sneakers, wedges, flip-flops, and sometimes heels.  I wear them around the house, to run errands, or even out for a date night or event. I have them in a variety of colors, patterns, and fabrics, and I love them all. Today I want to show you how you can take one simple, solid color maxi dress and create 7 completely different looks with it.  I started with a basic grey maxi tank dress.  This particular one is from Lularoe, but you can find similar ones in many different places.  I will link some below.
