A Look in My Closet: OOTD

Summer hit full force near the end of last week.  At one point on Saturday when I got it my car, the thermostat said 100 degrees.  I don’t even know what the heat index was, but it was HOT! I really thought that I was escaping 100 degree or more temps when I left South Georgia! I guess I was wrong.  Hopefully it won’t last long and the cooler days will come back.  I was out Saturday in the heat doing a little formal gown shopping for a Gala I have coming up this weekend.  I will show you what dress I picked next week along with all of my outfit choices for our Trades of Hope Inspire Retreat.  I am so excited and cannot wait for Thursday to get here. Anyway, it has been a while since I have let you have a peek into my closet so I figured that it was about time to show you what I have been wearing this past week.

Fashion Finds: Cupshe

This past weekend my family and I went to a water park.  As I was walking around, I was doing a lot of people watching.  I was checking out other women’s swimsuits. There were some that I thought were super cute and others not so much.  I actually got several comments on the swimsuit that I was wearing. One time I was in the bathroom washing my hands and a lady told me how cute it was and asked where I got it from. She then proceeded to tell me how difficult it had been for her to find a suit that she thought was cute, that fit her body type, and that didn’t break the bank.  I could sympathize with her because I have spent many days myself, trying on suit after suit trying to find one that made me comfortable.  Throughout most of my life I wore two-piece swimsuits, specifically bikinis.  Then after I had my second daughter, I no longer felt comfortable in a bikini so I moved to tankinis.  I am have a very long torso and have never thought that I looked good in a one piece swimsuit.  They just don’t fit me right.  The problem for me was finding a tankini that I actually liked and that didn’t make me feel like an old lady or that had a top that wasn’t so flowy that I felt like I looked like I was still pregnant.  Anyway, that is what I have worn for the past several years and I needed something new and fresh that made me feel good.

Over the past year and a half or so, I have lost weight and started feeling better about my body.  I started seeing these ads for these super cute swimsuits throughout my Facebook and Instagram feeds from a company called Cupshe.  Many of them were the high-waisted bikinis. It is so funny to me that this trend from the 70’s is back.  Anyway, I was very intrigued by this style of suit and thought maybe it was the solution to my swimsuit woes.  While I was super hesitant to purchase a swimsuit from an ad on social media without even seeing it in person and trying it on, I decided to go for it.  The price was good and there were really good reviews, so what did I really have to loose?  Plus, I had seen a few other bloggers post about swimsuits from this same company. The problem then became which one to choose.  There are tons of them and they are all adorable.  I finally decided on one and then started to get cold feet again. Who really buys a swimsuit they haven’t tried on? Am I too old to wear a suit like that? What size do I even get? These were the thoughts running through my head trying to talk me out of the purchase.  This was all just before my annual girls’ trip to the beach so I had to make a decision because I needed a new swimsuit.  I finally decided to pull the trigger and go for it.  I actually ended up purchasing it from Amazon instead of the Cupshe website directly because I needed the prime shipping.  I needed it fast.  I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived.  It fit perfectly, and it is definitely a good quality suit.  To top it all off, it is so cute! I am in love with it and will definitely purchase swimsuits from them again.  I will spare you the picture of me in the suit, but you can see the one that I chose below. Unfortunately it is no longer available on the Cupshe site, but you can still snag it on Amazon.

I have gone through the numerous suits that they have in stock right now and have chosen some of my favorites in different styles.  It was really hard to narrow it down to just a few! I highly recommend their suits. They are so adorable and they are super affordable.  I recommend that you use the size chart that is on the Cupshe website for each suit to determine the best size for you. If you are between sizes, I would size up.  That is what I did, and it is a perfect fit. I have also included the links to the Cupshe site as well as Amazon (if available) in case you are in a hurry like me. They are having a sale on the Cupshe site right now with some suits up to 70% off. You could also get 15% off an order of $75+ by entering your email to subscribe.

I like stripes, polka dots, all shades of blue, and halter tops! Sorry! That’s just what I am drawn too. I did try to pick a few different styles, too, though. Happy Shopping!

One Dress, 7 Ways

Today I want to talk about one of my favorite pieces for the summer.  I love a good maxi dress.  They are so easy to throw on and dress up or dress down.  I wear them with slip-on sneakers, wedges, flip-flops, and sometimes heels.  I wear them around the house, to run errands, or even out for a date night or event. I have them in a variety of colors, patterns, and fabrics, and I love them all. Today I want to show you how you can take one simple, solid color maxi dress and create 7 completely different looks with it.  I started with a basic grey maxi tank dress.  This particular one is from Lularoe, but you can find similar ones in many different places.  I will link some below.

Father’s Day Shopping

If you live under a rock like I do, you may not have realized yet that Father’s Day is coming up this weekend. That day tends to always sneak up on me.  I guess a lot of things are usually going on around this time of year, particularly the end of the school year and start of summer vacation, that I just loose track of the date.  When I was teaching, you better believe I always knew what day of the week it was and what the date was all the time.  The moment summer vacation began, though, it all went out the window and I had no clue what day it was.  Now that I am not teaching, this blog actually helps me to keep up with the date. Otherwise, I would be totally lost. Anyway, if Father’s Day has snuck up on you, I am here to help.  I have some last minute gifts for that dad in your life that just might put a smile on his face this year.  Many of these items are available on Amazon Prime, so you still have time to get them here in time for the big day with 2-day shipping.  The others may require you to pay extra for faster shipping or and IOU note.

1. Wireless Ear Buds

I am not sure that there are many men out there that wouldn’t enjoy these, especially if he is someone that likes to work out or listen to music while working. Most people would go for the Apple AirPods (Best Buy), but my husband really loves his Bose Sound Sport Wireless Headphones (Amazon). There are many less expensive options as well on Amazon.

2. Grilling Tools

We all know that it is usually the men in our lives that do the grilling, right? Well, what man wouldn’t think it was cool to be able to brand his steaks when he is out cooking on the grill? Check out this branding iron (Amazon) that allows him to change it up to say whatever he wants! If you have a dad that loves to grill and also loves to golf, this stainless steel grilling set (Amazon) with a golfing twist is just the thing for him.

3. Messenger Bag

The Alden Messenger Bag from Trades of Hope is perfect for the guy that goes to the office everyday to carry all of his important papers.  He can look stylish while also supporting women in India who are rising up out of poverty.  It pairs perfectly with the Leather Travel Wallet that is also handcrafted by women in India.

4. Smart Gadgets

My husband is obsessed with smart gadgets that he can control with his phone.  Things like these ecobee4 Smart Thermostats (Amazon) and this Kwikset Smart Lock (Amazon) are among his favorites.

5. Outdoor Games

For that dad that loves to hang out and play games outside with his kids or friends, these yard games are a great option. Cornhole is a great outdoor game. Choose his favorite NFL team (Amazon), his favorite College Team (Amazon), or this less expensive portable version (Amazon). This Giant Jenga Game (Amazon), this Bocce Ball Set (Amazon), and this Ropoda Yard Pong Set (Amazon) are also great options.

6. Under Armor T-Shirt

These Under Armour shirts (Amazon) are great for the dad that likes to work out or for lounging around the house.

7. Watch

I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a nice watch as a gift.  This one by Michael Kors (Amazon) is very sleek and modern.  For a sportier, water resistant option, check out this Casio G-Shock Watch (Amazon).

8. Drone

Let’s think about it. Is there any man on this planet that wouldn’t think a drone was a cool gift? Boys and their toys! This Snaptain Wifi Drone (Amazon) is said to be great for beginners.

9. Neck Massage Pillow

I don’t think this really needs much explanation.  Maybe that special dad in your life would even let you use this Massage Pillow (Amazon) every now and then! <wink, wink>

10. Gift Card

If you are still struggling with the perfect gift, you can never go wrong with a gift card to his favorite store. These are really great stuffed inside a handmade card.

I hope you can find that perfect gift for that special dad in your life. Happy shopping!

A Look Into My Closet: OOTD

I decided that it has been too long since I gave you guys a look into my closet to see what I have been wearing, especially now that the warmer weather has hit.  You guys all know that I am all about affordable fashion. I believe that you don’t have to spend a fortune on a shirt or dress to look cute and fashionable.  Therefore, I love shopping at outlet stores.  While I was at the beach a few weeks ago, my friends and I went shopping at a small outlet mall. We found some great deals, so several of these pieces were outlet finds.  My favorite outlet shops to hit are LoftGap, Banana RepublicJ. Crew, and Norstrom Rack. The Loft Outlet currently has 20% off $100 with the code HELLO20.

Fashion Finds: Amazon

Today I wanted to share with you some new things that I have found on Amazon that I think are cute. You can’t get much better with online shopping than with Amazon Prime. That two-day delivery time is the absolute best! Now, I will admit that I haven’t purchased all of these pieces, but they are certainly on my list as possible future purchases. I always check out all of the reviews before I recommend something that I haven’t purchased myself. All of these pieces are all rated high and would make great additions to your wardrobe.

Cupshe Swimsuit

I do actually own this swimsuit and it is adorable! I was so happy with the fit and just how cute it is on. I had been seeing this brand of suits pop up in my Facebook feed for several weeks, and they were all so cute and seemed to have great reviews.  I needed it in a hurry, so I hopped over to Amazon and found the one I wanted right away. It was here in 2 days with Amazon Prime. Amazon for the win again! I got so many compliments on it this past weekend at my girls’ trip. Check out the other options this brand has because there are some super cute suits.  I will definitely order another one in the future.

Boat Neck Dolman Sleeve Dress

Reviews say that this dress is extremely soft and comfortable.  You really can’t go wrong with a simple dress like this.  Throw on a jean jacket for cool nights and you are all set.  It can be dressed up with a brightly colored necklace and sandals or dressed down with a cute pair of sneakers.  You can even add a pair of fun leggings underneath.

Off the Shoulder Ruffle Maxi Dress

This dress has great reviews and people rave about how comfortable and cute it is.  Many reviewers loved it so much that they purchased it in multiple colors.  Did I mention that it even has pockets? I think I might just have to order this one for myself!

Button Down Tank

This tank is super cute. I love the button detail. It can be worn with a half tuck like pictured, knotted in front, or down and loose.  It pairs great with a denim jacket or cute cardigan.

Short Sleeve T-Shirt

This cute top comes in a variety of solid colors and several shades of ombre’ fabric.  I love that it is longer in the back so it can be worn with leggings, and it has a feminine cut to it.  The ombre’ ones are certainly my favorites, but you can’t go wrong with a simple solid tee.

Graphic Tank

I love a good graphic shirt and this one is no exception. I especially love the vintage feel of it. The design comes in a variety of colors, and there is even a long sleeve option.

5” Chino Shorts

These shorts come in a variety of solid colors as well as a couple of cute prints.  They are the perfect shorts for summer and a great length.  They are very similar to ones I have gotten from Old Navy in style and fit.

Leopard Maxi Skirt

You guys know that I love animal print, and this skirt is adorable.  It does come in several colors as well.

Kimono

This kimono comes in a variety of patterns and colors.  It would be great over a t-shirt or tank or even used as a bathing suit coverup.

These are the things that I am loving on Amazon right now. Which is your favorite? I think mine is the Off the Shoulder Maxi dress.

Fashion Finds: Target

I have been having Target withdrawals.  With the move and trip to Disney, it has probably been at least a month since I have been.  You guys know it is my favorite store.  I could spend many hours and many dollars in that store daily if I could. I had to go and get my Target fix.  I wanted to check it out and see if they had any new finds for you guys.  It has been pretty miserable weather here where I live over the last few days.  It is super rainy and cold.  We were back in the 40’s this morning, and I have debating turning the heat back on. Instead, I am wrapped in a blanket to keep me warm as I type.  Anyway, despite the weather outside and my winter attire, I went into Target looking to find some cute summery pieces that were casual and great for everyday summer wear.   I will say that I was a little disappointed in the selection of clothes, which is rare for me to say.  They had tons of pieces for the younger crowd that just didn’t work for me.  You guys, they had a ton of acid wash denim!!!  It was like a flash back to my youth and certainly not a trend that I think I will fall back into! LOL! They even had a pair of acid wash jeans with elastic cuffs! No thank you! The other negative for me was that they had a lot of dressier work clothes, and not a lot of casual pieces that I felt were appropriate for my age and taste. I will say that Target has always been a staple for me when it comes to shorts for the summer.  You can typically find cute patterned and solid shorts in a variety of lengths. While they didn’t have as wide of selection as they normally do, I did find some cute shorts to show you.  There were a ton of boxes everywhere around the store and employees everywhere today, so I think they are restocking and possibly adding new inventory.  I will have to go back in a few days and check it out again.  Maybe then I will have better luck.  Here is what I did find, though, that I loved.

Tank Top (unavailable online)

Grey Shorts

Mono chromatic looks are very in right now.

Crewneck Linen Top

Pink Shorts

Eyelet Tank Top (not my favorite but pairs well with these shorts for a mono-chromatic look)

High Rise Plaid Shorts

So adorable!

High Rise Seersucker Shorts

Tank Top

High Rise Ruffle Shorts

Tie Dye V-Neck Top

High Rise Shorts

My favorite outfit of the day!

Ruffle Top

Shorts

This would make a great cover-up dress for a day at the beach.

Dress (has pockets)

Sleeveless Crewneck Knit Midi Dress

Circle bags are very on-trend right now.

Circle Rope Tote

Straw Tote

Espadrille Wedges

Scalloped Slides

How fun is this?

Necklace

While I didn’t find a ton of casual outfits like I was hoping for, I did find some really great pieces. I will definitely go back soon to check out the new inventory they were putting out. For those of you that are fanatics about Vineyard Vines, Target is doing a collaboration with them that will be released May 18. These pieces will sell out quickly so be ready to head over there on Saturday to grab yours. Happy shopping!

Fashion Finds: Rompers & Jumpsuits

Today I want to talk about the ever popular trend of the romper/jumpsuit.  These have been widely popular for several years now.  I will admit that when the trend first started, I was totally scared of it.  I had it in my head that I was too old to wear a romper or that they wouldn’t look good on me.  I have since changed my mind.  I have come to love them.  Now, I will say that I can’t wear just any romper.  I have to find ones that suit my body type. I am long waisted so I have to find ones that cinch or tie in just the right place and have a longer torso or else I have a permanent wedgie! It’s true!  Rompers that are super short really don’t work for me.  I actually prefer jumpsuits that are pants or wide leg capris, but I do have a couple short rompers.  I have come to learn that anyone can pull off the romper/jumpsuit  look if you find the right one. I have found a few different types that I think are super cute. All of them won’t work for everyone, but I feel certain that there are one or two that you can find that would work for you.  Many of these are currently on sale up to 40% off so catch them before the sale is over!

Mother’s Day Shopping

I hope that everyone had an amazing Easter yesterday and got to spend some great quality time with the ones you love.  My day wasn’t all that great, unfortunately. My family and I did make it to church but much of the rest of the day involved me lounging in the recliner while my family continued to unpack boxes.   I felt horrible.  I am heading in to see my doctor in a little bit because I am pretty certain that I have a sinus infection.  Yay for me! Needless to say, I wasn’t the most pleasant person to be around yesterday because I felt horrible. This week I decided to find some great options for Mother’s Day gifts for you all.  Whether you are shopping for your mom, your mother-in-law, another special mom in your life or yourself, I think you will find the perfect gift here. Mother’s Day is only 3 weeks away, but that is plenty of time to get any of these items ordered and have them arrive in time for the big day.  Who knows, you may see something on here that you want for yourself! Feel free to share it with your hubby or kids! <wink, wink>

The Original Family Tree Necklace(Lisa Leonard Designs)

Now, this piece is the most expensive of all of the items on this list, but you can get 25% off plus a free necklace with any purchase this week only.  This necklace is from one of my favorite personalized jewelry designers, Lisa Leonard. I actually own this necklace myself. It is one of my favorite pieces, and I always get comments on it whenever I wear it.  I highly encourage you to look around her site for other beautiful pieces that you may also like while the sale is going on.

Mother’s Day Set(Trades of Hope)

This set is unique and helps women across the globe. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. It includes the following 3 pieces.

Kindhearted Mug-This ceramic, glazed mug is formed, etched, and painted by hand. This cheerful petite mug holds 8 ounces of your favorite morning beverages. A whimsical pink swirl design on the interior is an added fun touch! Created by artisans in Vietnam.

Momento Frame-Frame mom’s favorite 4″ x 6″ photo memories in this hand-carved picture frame with a whitewash finish. Created by artisans in India.

Mayan Blend Coffee-Harvesting the highest quality coffee from across Guatemala’s richest coffee regions, Mayan artisans utilize methods developed over the past 130 years. Full of rich history and flavors reminiscent of their culture and land, these artisans seek more than merely passing down these traditions. This group partners with various universities across the U.S. to help educate and provide medical assistance to their families. Each bag of coffee you purchase goes towards providing a healthy and prosperous future for Guatemalans for generations to come.

Wooden Sign(Amazon)

I think this sweet sign describes just about any mom that I know! Moms are the glue that holds most families together for sure!

Farmhouse Home Sign(Amazon)

I love this sign because you can change out the wreath to match the season or décor in your home.

The Lovely Tote Fashion Crocodile Circle Crossbody(Amazon)

This style of bag is super popular right now.  This mustard color is amazing, but there are other colors available. There is even a smaller version of this purse available as well.

Soft Notch Collar Pajama Set(Target)

How can you go wrong with a comfy pair of pajamas that are perfect for the warmer weather?  The yellow stripes add just a touch of sunshine to them as well.

Burnes 4-Opening Collage Family Frame(Target)

I thought this was cute and could be even better if given with family pictures already in it.

Large Round Basket  (Target) with Embrace Throw(Trades of Hope)

I love a great basket that can hold pillows or throws.  I think they look great by the fireplace.  This throw is AMAZING! I own one myself.  What is so unique about it is that it is handmade by women in India escaping poverty.  It is gorgeous and so soft!

Hearth and Hand with Magnolia Bamboo Bathroom Tray(Target)

I am not a bath taker myself, but I know a lot of moms love to relax in a warm bath.  This is perfect for those moms that love to read or relax with a glass of wine in the tub. You could throw in a good book or some bath salts with it.

Rae Dunn Mother’s Day Cookie Jar(Amazon)

Rae Dunn pottery is very popular right now.  Most Rae Dunn pieces have a word on them, but I love the flowers on this cookie jar. If you love this, hurry and grab it because quantities are limited! If you miss this one, this is also a great option.

Don’t let the day sneak up on you! It will be here before you know it. I know I would love any of these gifts from my kids or husband this Mother’s Day! I bet one or more of this would fit your style or the the style of a mom you love. Happy shopping!

Fashion Finds: Old Navy Dresses

Spring officially arrived on March 20 as the first day of spring.  We got a taste of warmer weather on Saturday, but it was very short lived. We were back to colder temperatures yesterday. Anyway, the point is that if spring hasn’t already arrived for you, it is coming! The warmer weather brings with it a need to change up your wardrobe.  It is about time to put away the sweaters, sweatshirts, and pants and get ready for cute dresses and shorts. I have mentioned before that I love wearing dresses in the spring and summer either dressed up or dressed down with a pair of slip on sneakers. Old Navy currently has a sale going on where they have 40% off of all dresses.  That is a great deal on already great priced pieces, so I had to go and check it out for you and found some super cute dresses. There were tons of different styles, colors, and cute patterns. All of the dresses that I will show you that I tried on were pretty true to size.  I am wearing a medium in all of the dresses.  Please excuse my static charged hair! Those dressed were full of static! Check them out and go get your shop on!

Square-Neck Button-Front Midi Dress

Waist-Defined Flutter-Sleeve Dress

Ruffled Ponte-Knit Sheath Dress

Sleeveless Jersey Swing Dress

Ruffled High-Neck Swing DressS

Waist-Defined Ruffle-Sleeve Maxi

I am not in love with this pattern on the white background.  They do have it in a black with white polka dot, but I wanted to show you a pattern besides my usual stripes and polka dots.

Flutter-Sleeve Jersey Swing Dress

Waist-Defined Pattered Wrap-Front Dress

They had so many more, but these were my favorite styles.  Knowing what you know about my style and personality, can you guess which one was my favorite and must have? I really loved them all for different reasons, but there is one that I just fell in love with the minute I put it on.  Let me know your guesses.
