Looks for Less: J. Crew Factory

Friday marked the official start of spring, and we had gorgeous spring weather here that day.  Of course, it went back to cold over the weekend, but I am not letting it hamper my mood.  The trees are starting to bloom, and spring is definitely in the air. I am loving all the new spring clothes that are popping up everywhere.  That has put me in the outfit making mood.  Since I can’t go out and do any real shopping as we are still trapped at home, I went for the next best thing…online shopping! No, I didn’t really buy anything, but I do have a few things sitting in my cart I am debating on.  You all know that I am all about a bargain and outlet shopping is my cup of tea.  Today I have scoured J. Crew Factory for some really cute pieces all at a great price.  Some are even on clearance and others are an additional 70% off with the code SNOOZE. I have made 8 outfits from head to toe that are just too cute for words! Check them out!

Buy Better

Since I became involved with Trades of Hope, I have learned more and more about Fair Trade and what it means.  Fair Trade companies are held to high standards that ensure that individuals receive a fair, living wage in a safe and secure working environment. That living wage includes enough money for food, shelter, education, and more. The fair trade movement is bringing equitable and sustainable employment and creating opportunities to end the poverty cycle in some of the poorest areas of the world. It is a partnership between artisans and farmers in developing countries where products are traded for fair prices. Prior to learning about fair trade, I really never thought about where my clothes and things were coming from. I had heard of sweatshops, but I never really thought about how my shopping habits affected that. I was basically blissfully unaware. Thankfully, I am now trying to make a conscious effort to buy better. I am also becoming more aware of brands that are socially conscious. These are brands that align with a cause to promote social responsibility as a way to make the world a better place.  They are brands that are trying to make a difference. I am actively seeking out companies that are fair trade and are doing amazing things, as well as ethical fashion that gives back and creates employment opportunities. I am searching for artisan and ethically made products.  I am more in tune to where the things I buy are coming from and who made them. Does that mean that I am only purchasing fair trade? No, it doesn’t, but I am trying to do better and be more conscious. I will admit that ethically made clothing can be more expensive which makes it harder to justify a purchase. However, knowing that some companies who offer more affordable items operate some of the largest sweatshops out there, makes me not want to buy from them at all. I am willing to pay more if it means that we can put an end to the use of sweatshops and make a difference in the world. Today, I wanted to share with you a few of the companies that I have found that offer some really great products. These brands are either fair trade or socially conscious brands that are making a difference in the world. I have chosen one thing from their website that I love to also share. I encourage you to check them out and choose to buy better for yourself.

A Look in my Closet: OOTD

This past weekend was so nice because we finally got a little break.  We had gymnastics all day Friday and cheer on Sunday, but we had all day Saturday free.  It was glorious! I stayed in the chair reading a book and watching TV for the majority of the day, and then we went out for dinner.  It was a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of our crazy life.  Those days don’t come around very often, and I already long for the next one.

Today I thought I would give you peek into my closet at some of the things I have been wearing. I have new pieces mixed with some older pieces.  I tried to find similar items to the ones that are no longer available.  Some pieces are new styles from my favorite Lularoe fashionista.  If you have been following me for a while, you know that I love their clothes. She may not have the exact same one I have, but she has other prints/solids in the same styles that will give you a similar look.  As I have said before, I always give you a look into my closet to give you a little outfit inspiration.  Use what you may like from my outfits to create your own looks. Wear what makes you feel good!

You all know by now that I am all about putting together looks for less.  I don’t believe that you have to spend a ton of money to look cute and feel great about yourself, nor do I believe that you have to pay for top name brands (unless they are heavily discounted) to look your best.  I am totally a sucker for a good sale.  Today I have scoured the internet looking for some of best deals around.  I found quite a few super cute pieces.  You have to hurry, though, because these deals won’t last long and sizes are limited.  Keep in mind that prices are subject to change at any time.

Fashion Finds: Target

I finally made it to Target, so I am no longer having Target withdrawals.  Haha! It is my favorite store after all.  I really wanted to try on some of the cute dresses I found online last week and, of course, a few other things too.  I didn’t try on all the dresses from last week, but I will share with you the ones that I liked best of what was available and in my size at my local store.  Please excuse the fact that it looks like I stuck my finger in an electric socket.  Everything I tried on was full of static and my hair was standing up all over the place! Some of the dresses were very clingy to me from all the static too, some may not look as full as they actually are.  The jeans and boots I am wearing are ones I already owned, but they are also from Target.

Fashion Finds: Dresses

Well, today has not gone as planned.  I was going to do a little dressing room try-on session for you all, but that got derailed by an unexpected appointment this morning. Now I am all behind.  When I was poking around online over the weekend, I saw that Target had some new really cute dresses.  I wanted to go try some of them on for you, but that isn’t going to happen today unfortunately. I think I am having Target withdrawals.  It has been forever since I have done a try-on session there. Anyway, I just decided to pull some of the dresses from their website that I think are adorable.  These would make great outfits to go on a date with your significant other on Valentine’s Day, for work, or if you just feel like looking cute one day! They are also great to transition into spring.  If I make it to the store later on this week to try some of them on, I will share that with you next week. In the meantime, check these out.

Several of these dresses also come in other colors or patterns that are as equally as adorable.  Aren’t they so cute? I can’t wait to try some of them on. I bet they even have more in the store that haven’t made it online yet.  Happy shopping!
