Friday Favorites: Top 5

I haven’t shared a top 5 favorites in a while, so I thought I would do one today.  I have a few new things that I want to share with you that I have recently purchased or watched during the quarantine.  We will call this the Top 5 Quarantine Edition! LOL! A couple of these are new additions to our house as we continue to make improvements and upgrades. Overall all, it is just a few new things I am loving right now. Check them all out.

Wink Kangaroo Convertible Backpack

I just recently ordered this convertible backpack after looking at several different options.  I really wanted a backpack that could also be used as a crossbody bag.  For this reason, I didn’t want it to be very large.  This one was the perfect size for me. It isn’t too big but will easily hold all of the items I need.  It comes in a variety of colors.  The one I purchased is Yellow Brown.  I feel like it is well made and looks great.  I am extremely happy with the quality.  I can’t wait to use it more to see how it stands up to the test of time, but I am loving it so far.

Walker Edison Furniture Co. Farmhouse Entryway Table

I found this table on Amazon when I was looking for something to fit in this space next to the stairs in my entryway.  It is the perfect fit for the space and the exact look that I was going for.  As you can see it works great in that space.  Now all I need is to add a lamp and a few nick knacks to make the area complete.

Home Sign

A friend of mine has a sign like this, and I fell in love with it the first time I saw it at her house. I wanted one for myself to hang in my new house above the sofa.   I had planned to make it myself, but as we all know the best laid plans often never happen.  I finally just decided to purchase one.  Otherwise, who knows when I would have gotten around to it? Anyway, I looked at a few on Amazon, but I didn’t really love those and the majority of them were done vertically instead of horizontally like I wanted.  I ended up finding this one on Etsy and went with it. I was able to choose the color stain I wanted, as well as, the color for the lettering.  The only part that I don’t love about it is the way the wreath is attached.  I had asked that it be removable because I have plans to change it out periodically. While it is removable, I would have preferred that it not have been screwed into the board at the top and bottom.  I wish it was more like a hook so it could easily be interchanged.  This way just makes it a little more difficult. I want to be able to use a Christmas wreath during the holidays and maybe a cotton wreath in the fall. It will still work for what I want. I just would have preferred it to be hung differently.  I purchased mine about a month ago from Small Craft Advisory Co. on Etsy, but I don’t see it listed any longer in that shop. You may be able to contact the shop owner to see if she can create another one or check out this listing from a different shop that is similar.

Sweet Magnolias

This is a Netflix Original series.  There is only one season available now, but I just heard that it has been renewed for a second season.  It is a super cute show about 3 friends who lift each other up as they juggle relationships, families, and careers in the small, southern town of Serenity.  It is definitely a chick flick type of show. It mixes heartfelt drama with a bit of humor, and I just thought it was great. I am definitely looking forward to season 2.

Pixie by Petra Correction Concentrate Brightening Peach

This is a new brand of products I decided to try out. I am always looking for affordable solutions that work to share with all of you. I just started using this product a couple of months ago, and I really like it.  It is a color correcting concentrate to help erase dark spots around your eyes.  I use it in the corner of my eye, underneath my eye, and on my eyelid to even out the skin tone in preparation for the rest of my makeup.  It may seem like it isn’t much for your money as it comes in a very small container.  However, a little goes a long way, so it really does last a long time. I apply it using a brush and am happy with the results.

And…that’s a wrap on this TOP 5 Quarantine edition of my top 5 favorites!

friday Favorites: Top 5

It’s Friday, and we have made it through another week of social distancing.  Honestly, if it weren’t for this blog, I probably wouldn’t know what day it was anymore.  They just all seem to blur together these days. Anyway, Friday means that I get to share with you some of my favorite things. It has been a while since I have done a top 5 favorites post, so I figured I would do one today.  I have a few things that I am loving right now that I wanted to share with you.  They are all totally random things, but I love them each of them.

1. Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

I know this wasn’t part of my book club for this month, but I have been wanting to read this book for some time.  I figured now was as good of time as any with all the free time I have.  I started this one at the beginning of this week and finished it in about 4 days.  It was a great story about motherhood, mother-daughter relationships, teenage love, race, and economic and social class.  I really enjoyed this story a lot. I wanted to finish it because there is also now an original series based on the book on Hulu staring Reese Witherspoon and Kerri Washington.  I started watching it yesterday after I finished the book and am 3 or 4 episodes in.  While the series is good, I always struggle when the storyline differs from that in the book.  I’m one of those people that often will say that the book was better than the movie or series.  I think that is just the book junkie in me.  I will continue to watch it until the end though because I really did enjoy the book.  What else do I have to do these days anyway?  Here is what Publisher’s Weekly had to say about Little Fires Everywhere.

“This novel from Ng is both an intricate and captivating portrait of an eerily perfect suburban town with dark undertones not-quite-hidden from view and a powerful and suspenseful novel about motherhood. When the eccentric and itinerant artist Mia Warren and her 15-year-old daughter, Pearl, move into a rental house in Shaker Heights, Ohio, one summer, neither they nor their more conventional, affluent landlords, the Richardsons, have any reason to anticipate how dangerously enmeshed the two families will become. Before long, Pearl, enthralled by her first shot at a “normal” life, is spending every day with three of the four Richardson children, Lexie, Moody, and Trip, finding a best friend, a suiter, and a lover in turn. Meanwhile, Isabelle, the youngest Richardson teenager, starts heading over to see Mia, offering to work as her assistant but really looking for an escape. As both Mrs. Richardson and Mia Warren overstep their boundaries, Ng explores the complexities of adoption, surrogacy, abortion, privacy, and class, questioning all the while who earns, who claims, and who loses the right to be called mother. This is an impressive accomplishment.”

2. Easter M&M’s

I love M&M’s.  I’m not a peanut fan or really a fan of any other M&M’s other than the original plain one.  However, there is something about the Easter ones that I like better than the regular ones.  I don’t know if has anything to do with the coloring as all of the Easter ones are pastel colors or what, but they taste different to me. I just like them even better than the regular ones (which I still love a lot). I can’t really explain it, but I love Easter M&M’s so much.  Maybe I am just weird and it’s all psychological, but there is something about them that makes them taste better to me.

3. Glass Nail File

A few months ago, I did not know that glass nail files even existed.  A friend of mine who is a rep. for Color Street (nail wraps), sent me a glass nail file with an order I had placed with her.  At first, I wasn’t sure it I would like it because it feels weird and different from what I am used to, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I actually like it a lot. I looked up what made them better than regular nail files just to see what I could find.  An Allure article from August 30, 2012 states, “Glass files, also known as crystal files, regardless of how they are used, seal the keratin layers together at the edge of the nail, preventing peeling and chipping.  Traditional nail files should be used filing in one direction only, but they rarely are, and filing in both directions causes the layers of keratin to shred, leaving the edge thinner and more prone to peeling and chipping. Another bonus is that glass files can be sanitized and sterilized.” Basically, it is better for your nails than a regular cardboard or metal one, and they last longer.  If you have never tried a glass file or you have brittle nails, I would recommend you consider giving one a try.

4. Tide PODS HE Turbo Laundry Detergent-Ocean Mist

I don’t know what kind of laundry detergent you use, but I thought I would share my favorite.  I love the ease of pods, and Tide has always worked well for me.  The one I use is Tide PODS HE Turbo-Ocean Mist.  It smells so good and is by far my favorite. I love the smell of my clothes and towels when they come out of the dryer.  I typically order it in the large plastic containers from Amazon, but I was having trouble finding it in the large size today.  I found it in a smaller package, though.  I really hope that means they aren’t doing away with that scent. I would be very upset!

5. Desktop Phone Stand

I got this phone stand on the recommendation of another blogger that I follow, and I have used it way more than I even thought I would.  Sometimes I will prop my phone up on it when I am getting ready in the mornings and watch videos or listen to podcasts.  Recently, I have used it to hold my phone when I am doing live videos.  It is the perfect size and is easily portable. I also love that you can charge your phone while it is in the stand without messing up the cord.  The rose gold is also super cute.

That’s a wrap on my top 5 favorites for today.  I hope everyone is staying healthy at home!

Friday Favorites: Top 5

TGIF! I am so glad that Friday is here.  It has been a long week trying to get back into the swing of things around here after our 3-week break. The 2 snow days we had this week did not help the situation at all.  I am happy to have the weekend to reset and get ready to be back to the real grind next week. Meanwhile, today I am sharing with you the top 5 things I am loving right now. Check them out!

Peanut Butter To Go (Creamy or Crunchy)

Apples are probably my favorite fruit and always have been.  I just love them.  I tend to like the ones that are sweeter and not the more bitter ones.  My favorites are Honey Crisp and McIntosh.  My favorite way to eat apples is with peanut butter.  It is two of my favorite things all wrapped into one. That is where these little cups of peanut butter come in.  I have loved them since they first came out years ago.  I keep them in stock in my pantry all the time.  Throwing an apple in your lunch box with one of these cups of peanut butter is the perfect portable snack for me.  Sometimes when I am not very hungry for lunch, I will just eat an apple with peanut butter.  These cups of peanut butter are also perfect for packing in my kids’ lunches too.  They like them with pretzels, carrots, apples, and crackers.  Honestly, peanut butter makes so many things taste better, and it is a great source of protein for my kid that doesn’t eat much of anything. These cups come in smooth and crunchy peanut butter.

Apple Slicer

In addition to my love of apples and peanut butter, this apple slicer is a MUST. I am really weird about biting into things, so you will never catch me just biting into a whole apple.  It has to be cut up before I will even think about eating it.  Yes, I am weird.  That is where this apple slicer comes into play.  I got mine from Pamper Chef years ago, but you can get them just about anywhere now (Target or Walmart).  I use mine all the time.  It gives you the perfect slices of apple to dunk in your peanut butter and easily gets rid of the core.  When I was teaching and packing my lunch every day, I would throw in an apple, a cup of peanut butter, and my slicer almost every day.  It is even easy enough for my girls to use when they want to eat an apple.   It is definitely a necessity at my house.

The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

This was not a book that I chose for our book club but is one that I read while we were in the Bahamas.  It is the follow-up to Atwood’s best seller, The Handmaid’s Tale. If you haven’t read The Handmaid’s Tale, I highly recommend it.  It is dark and has some graphic scenes, but it is so good.  There is even a series by the same title on Hulu that is great too.  Anyway, I was very excited to read this follow up story, and it did not disappoint.  It was so good, and I couldn’t put it down.  If you have already read The Handmaid’s Tale, you should definitely read The Testaments.  It gives good closure to the original story by telling what happened in the years that followed while also giving insight to some of the things that lead up to the original story. It was really well done, and I liked it a lot.

Wedge Boots

I got these boots a few weeks before Christmas with a gift card I had, and I am obsessed with them.  I have worn them a lot since I got them.  They are super comfortable and are so cute on.  I love wearing them with this pair of frayed edge jeans and a bulky sweater.

C.C. Beanies

I have several C.C. Beanies in various colors and styles.  I love them. They are the perfect winter hat and will keep you very warm.  I think my favorite ones are the ones with the pom pom on top, but the ones without it are cute too.  They even have ones that have the hole for your ponytail.  My hair is just a little too short for those, but my oldest daughter has one that she uses. I love that there are so many options.  They even have some adorable animal print ones that I shared a few weeks ago on my gift giving list as they also make great gifts.

Friday Favorites: Top 5

It has been a busy week at my house this week. We had the addition of high school gymnastics on top of club gymnastics and cheer this week, which always makes things a little more hectic.  There has just been a lot going on.  As I have mentioned before, November signals the start of craziness in my family because it is when competition season begins for both girls in addition to the holidays in the mix.  I am super happy that we don’t have too much going on this weekend because it is probably our last free weekend for a long time.  I plan to enjoy it!

Today I am sharing 5 things that I love.  Check them out.

1. Panera Bread-Cinnamon Crunch Bagel

I love bread of all kinds.  I always have.  I know it isn’t the best thing for me, but I just really love bread.  I am one of those people that believes you have to have bread with every meal.  That is really just my excuse to eat more bread.  I love rolls, muffins, biscuits, bagels, and more.  I could go on and on.   I guess that is why I love to go to Panera.  I mean it is a bread place after all!  Anyway, I love getting their potato soup in a bread bowl.  Yum! It’s so good.  However, my most favorite thing from Panera is their Cinnamon Crunch Bagel. I am not a big breakfast eater, but that doesn’t matter because I will eat one of these for lunch.  I’m not kidding.  They are just so yummy!

2. Karen Kingsbury-Redemption Series

Karen Kingsbury is one of my absolute favorite authors.  I don’t think I have ever read one of her books that I didn’t love, and I have read a lot of them too. She writes Christian fiction and her stories are so touching.  I think I have shed at least a few tears for every one of her books that I have read. She writes a lot of series too. In fact the first time I read one of her books, it was the beginning of a series that she has since done multiple series spin offs from.  My favorite is that first series I read many years ago. It is called the Redemption Series and follows the lives of a family, the Baxters.  It is a series of 5 books each one telling the story of one of the 5 Baxter children.   I have read the whole series twice, and I will probably read it again one day because I love it so much.  I highly recommend this series as well as all of her other books.

3. Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayon Lipstick

I have shared with you before how much I love the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick (see more here).  It is my absolute favorite and the only one I wear.  It stays on all day, doesn’t smudge, and doesn’t transfer.  It is the best.  Well, Maybelline has recently launched a new piece to the Super Stay line that I love just as much. It is a crayon or pencil lipstick that you draw on.  This one has the same long lasting power and a variety of great colors.  It goes on smooth and easy and actually feels like a regular lipstick the way it glides on. It isn’t what you would experience if you were using a pencil liner.  It goes on much smoother.  I’m now obsessed with it just as much as I was with the Liquid Lipstick if not more so. I am wearing Lead the Way in this photo.

4. Matching Christmas Pajamas

For as long as I have had 2 children, I have always gotten them matching Christmas pajamas every year.  Then when my nephews were born, we started doing matching pajamas for all the kids. Several years ago my mom, sister, and I started also wearing matching ones too. We didn’t match with the kids, but the three of us matched each other.  Then a couple of years ago, my mom decided she wanted the whole family to be in matching pajamas at Christmas.  Of course the men in the family weren’t too fond of that idea and refused to participate. They only wore theirs for the 10 minutes it took my mom to get a picture of the whole family together.  Anyway, I still love the idea of matching pajamas on Christmas.  This year I am all about the buffalo plaid that is so on trend right now, and I am thinking about getting these for my family of 4.  Aren’t they so cute? We would all be adorable in them on Christmas morning.  I doubt my husband will go for it, but I can dream, right?

5. Amazon Original-Jack Ryan

If you have Amazon Prime (and you should if you don’t), you need to watch the Jack Ryan series. Otherwise, you can just buy it.  I watched the first season a couple of months ago and absolutely loved it.  The second season just came out.  I haven’t watched it yet because I just haven’t had time, but it is definitely on my to do list.  It is based on Tom Clancy’s books and his character, CIA analyst Jack Ryan. In the show Jack is played by John Krasinski, and he is great in this role. It is action packed and so good.  Both my husband and I really liked season 1, and can’t wait to watch season 2.

That’s a wrap on my top 5 favorites today, but check back next week for our book club. I am doing it a week early because of the holiday. If you haven’t started our book for this month, Redemption Road by John Hart, get on it because it is so good!

Friday Favorites: Top 5

Sometimes it is difficult for me to come up with just one of my favorite things to share with you. It is hard to narrow it down because I love so many things, so occasionally you get to see more than one of my favorites. Here are five things that I love right now.

1. Real Simple Magazine

Yes, I know that most people don’t read magazines anymore. If you do, you likely read it online and not in the print version.  However, I love a good magazine.  Reading it online just isn’t the same. I have shared before that one of my favorites is the HGTV Magazine, but my all time favorite is the Real Simple Magazine.  I have been reading it for many years.  I love the cool ideas they have for decorating, organizing, and so much more.  It really has a little bit of everything in it.  I just love when the new one comes in the mail.

2. Bic Gel-ocity Pens

These Gel-ocity pens are a new discovery for me, and I am obsessed.  I love the range of colors and how they write.  I am a bit of a snob when it comes to pens, so you know they are good if I say that I love them.  They dry quickly and don’t smear which is a problem with some gel pens.  I absolutely love these.

3. HallmarkLifetime Christmas Movies

You guys! Hallmark and Lifetime have been playing Christmas movies since the beginning of October and I am in love.  I used to only watch the ones on Hallmark, but Lifetime is really upping their game, and they have some really good ones too.  It doesn’t matter to me that every plot is nearly identical either.  I can sit and watch them one after another and never get tired.  My kids think it’s crazy that I have been watching them already, but I just can’t help it. They are so good!

4. Binder Clips

Ok, I know that this one is a strange one, but hear me out.  I prefer binder clips to paper clips.  I know…I’m weird.  It goes to my love for organizing.  I don’t love paper clips for a couple of reasons.  One is that they can sometimes fall off easily causing your papers to get jumbled.  The other is that they can often cause holes in your papers.  I just think that binder clips are neater and cleaner looking. Plus you can get some really cute ones like these Emoji faces from Amazon.  They just make me smile.

5. Ritz Toasted Chips (Sour Cream & Onion)

If you have not tried these Ritz Chips, you need to! They are sooooo good! They have several flavors, but the Sour Cream & Onion ones are the best.  Of course you will need to brush your teeth after eating them, but it is totally worth it. I literally could sit and eat the whole bag.  They are that yummy!

Friday Favorites: Top 5

Today we are having our first taste of fall.  It is a cool 67 degrees out right now and the high is only expected to be around 70. You guys know that I love the cooler temps.  Unfortunately, it is also rainy out, so it is kind of dark and gloomy.  It looks like the perfect day for me to curl up on the couch and finish reading our book club book for this month. Today for my Friday Favorites, I am sharing 5 things that I am loving right now. Check them out!

1. Essie Nail Polish-S’ll Vous Play

If you have been reading this blog for a while or know me well, you know that I despise glitter. I absolutely cannot stand it.  I hate how it gets everywhere and then you can’t get rid of it ever.  It seems to multiply.  However, I do like the look of glittery things.  As long as it is contained like in my new favorite nail polish color.  I love this color for several reasons. One is that it is pretty neutral color. I would describe it as a light pink color with a little shimmer.  It can go with most things I wear without majorly clashing.  It is subtle, which I really like too. Surprisingly, I really do like that is has a little sparkle to it.

2. Portable Straw

I don’t know about where you live, but many restaurants around here these days are doing away with straws altogether.  I get he reasoning behind it.  My youngest will tell you straight up how bad straws are for the sea turtles and we need to save them.  However, I am a germ-a-phobe and have a serious issue with drinking out of a glass or paper cup from restaurants without a straw.  I don’t want to put my mouth where someone else that I don’t know has put their mouth.  It really grosses me out.  This has become a huge dilemma for me now that so many places don’t have them.  My solution is this nifty travel straw that folds up nicely into this little case and fits right in my purse.  Anytime I am out and there is no straw, I can just pull out my own to use.  Then when I am ready to leave, I dry it off with a napkin and fold it back into the case to wash later.

3. Pampered Chef Mix ‘n Chop

I have had this Pampered Chef tool for years, and I use it multiple times a week to chop and mix food.  It is really great when cooking ground beef or ground turkey.  It helps me to separate it into smaller pieces.  I love Pampered Chef products as a whole, but this is definitely one of my favorites that gets used the most.

4. One Bars

A friend introduced these protein bars to me several months ago, and I really like them.  I have tried so many different bars over the years and have never found one that I really liked and had really given up trying new ones.  I am kind of a picky eater, so finding a bar for me to eat on the go or when I need a boost has been difficult until now.  I really do like these One Bars.  There are so many different flavors, and I haven’t even tried them all yet.  In fact I just ordered a variety pack from Amazon the other day so I could try some more flavors.  My current favorite is Birthday Cake followed by Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough as a close second. The Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake is also pretty good.   Some of the other flavors include Lemon Cake, Maple Glazed Doughnut, Salted Carmel, Chocolate Brownie, Almond Bliss, Cinnamon Roll, Blueberry Cobbler, Peanut Butter Pie, Cookie ‘n Crème, and Red Velvet Cake. I love that there is such a huge variety because it keeps me from getting tired of them.  Each bar contains 20 grams of protein and only 1 gram of sugar. Oh, and they are also gluten free!

5. Jogger Sweatpants

These joggers are super comfortable, affordable, and cute. They are perfect for lounging around the house for days like today when it is dark, rainy, and cool outside.

Friday Favorites: Top 5

It has been a while since I have done a top 5 post.  These are the top 5 things that I am loving right now.  Some are totally random, but they help make my life easier.

1. HGTV Magazine

I have been obsessed with this magazine for a while and always buy it when I am standing in line at a store and see it.  I finally broke down and got a subscription with some of my airline rewards points. I  just got my first one in the mail, and I’m in love.  I have a slight obsession with the HGTV channel anyway, so the magazine is just the icing on the cake.  I love looking at the decorating ideas, the bright colors throughout, the tips and tricks, and so much more.

2. Toothpaste Tube Squeezer

I told you all yesterday how the OCD person in me doesn’t like toothpaste tubes because I can’t stand the half squeezed tube.  My solution is this tube squeezer thingy.  It keeps the tube squeezed at just the right level and prevents you from wasting any toothpaste.  I add it to the end of the tube and press it forward each time I brush.  It makes it look much more orderly.

3. Shark Rocket Vacuum

I love this Shark vacuum to clean up quick messes, all of my hair in my bathroom and closet, and for the stairs.  It is so lightweight and easy to use. The top piece comes off and can be used almost like and old “dust-buster” my mom had back in the 80’s.  It is also easy to lift and use for high spaces.  This is such a great vacuum.

4. Young Living Easy Breeze Awakening Shower Steamers

I am obsessed with these.  I love to use them on the mornings when I wash my hair because that means I take a longer shower.  They are super relaxing to me and just amp up my shower time.  Smells of eucalyptus and peppermint permeate the shower, and it smells so good.  I think they really help with my migraines too on mornings like today when I wake up with one. They come 4 to a pack and are totally worth every penny to me.

5. Fiskars Paper Trimmer

I use this thing all the time.  I use it when I am crafting, working on my vinyl creations, making things for the girls, creating fliers or invitations, and so much more.  It is much easier to use this when I have to cut something in a straight line than it is to use scissors.  Again, my OCD comes in to play here with making things perfectly straight.

That’s a wrap on my current top 5 favorite things. What are you loving these days?

Friday Favorites: Top 5

I feel like I talk about sleep a lot on here, but I am going to do it again today.  Why? Because sleep, or lack of sleep, is constantly on my mind.  My body requires at least 10 hours of sleep and always has, but I rarely get 10 hours of sleep these days.  It is not because I stay up late doing stuff or that I get up super early.  It is because I cannot sleep.  I have a really hard time falling asleep these days.  My brain can’t shut off sometimes.  Part of it is because my day doesn’t stop until about 9:30 or 10 with the girls’ activities so there is no time for down time before I get in the bed.  There is no time for me to relax and unwind from the chaos of the day.  Therefore, my brain is still going 90 miles a minute when I lie down. That is why sleep is always on my mind. I’m longing for it all day and then when the time comes to actually sleep, I’m wide awake.  It is super frustrating.  Anyway, when I do fall asleep, I sleep hard, but there are 5 things that I must have if there is any chance of me getting a good night of sleep. They are my 5 favorite sleep aids.

1. Super Soft Sheets (Amazon)

My husband and I are both really picky about our sheets.  They have to be silky soft.  For some reason, sheets that aren’t silky soft make me hot.  I don’t know why, but the rougher the sheets are, the hotter I get. Sheets made from jersey fabric or that are flannel are definitely out of the question. I feel like I am dying of heat when sleeping on those types of fabrics. I also don’t like textured sheets because they make me feel hot too.  Our favorite brand of sheets is Boll & Branch.  They are on the high-end cost wise, but this is one area that we will splurge.  We think they are worth the cost. These sheets hold up well so they last for a long time.  They are made with pure organic cotton, are lightweight, and are super soft. I personally do not recommend the striped ones they have because they are textured and too hot for me.

2. Sound Machine (Amazon)

When my husband and I were first married, we got an air purifying machine to help with my allergies.  I got accustomed the soft hum that it made. I liked the noise partly because it was soothing, but the main reason was that it blocked out other noises.  With my husband deployed a lot, I would have trouble sleeping when he was gone and I was home alone because every little noise I heard during the night would scare me. That machine helped drown out all those little noises.  We had that machine for years.  I don’t think that it really worked as an air purifier, but we kept it just for the noise. It got to the point that we had to buy a little sound machine to take with us when we traveled because we couldn’t sleep in the quiet.  When we moved, we decided that it was time to get rid of that big air purifier and opted to just use a sound machine instead that made white noise.  We cannot sleep without it.  My youngest daughter took over the small travel one we had and we purchased a new one for our bedroom.  It came with a variety of sounds that you could choose from like waves crashing on the shore, rain, nature sound, and more.  We prefer just the white noise to anything else. The sound machine is a MUST HAVE for a good night’s sleep in our house.

3. Leg Pillow (Amazon)

The leg pillow is another MUST HAVE for my husband and me. We have been using them for years. We are both side sleepers, and the leg pillow fits perfectly right between your knees.  It helps to keep your spine aligned and your body in a more comfortable position. It helps with lower back and hip discomfort. These also travel with us everywhere.  The ones we have, we have had for years and are similar to the one linked above, but I am considering getting one like this, to see if the cooling pads in it help to keep me from getting so hot while I am sleeping.

4. Sleep Innovations 2 in 1 Pillow (Amazon)

Just like I am particular about my sheets, I am also super particular about my pillow.  I cannot tell you how many pillows my husband and I have bought over the years trying to find the perfect one.  Let’s just say that the number would be obscene! Anyway a few years ago, I stumbled upon this pillow at and I was immediately hooked.  I love that it has the memory foam on one side and the microfiber on the other side.  I don’t think I will ever try another kind of pillow.  I love this one so much.  I will just keep replacing it every few years for a new one just like it.

5. Carmex (Amazon)

I know you are thinking that I am crazy, but I have to have Carmex to sleep.  I have said for years that I am addicted to Carmex.  I used to have to have one with me all the time, but I have worked hard to break that habit and think I am much better. While I may not need it with me 24/7 anymore, I still HAVE to have it at night. It is the last thing I do before I lay down.  I have to put on my Carmex or I can’t stand it and won’t sleep.

Those are my top 5 MUST HAVE favorites for a good night of sleep.  I have a hard enough time falling to sleep on a nightly basis that I will use all the tools I can to make the sleep come faster and longer.  What are your MUST HAVES for sleeping?

Friday Favorites: Top 5

Today I am sharing my top 5 favorite things right now.  These things are things that I am loving, and I think you will love them too. Some are new and some are trusty old favorites.

1. Thirty-One Large Utility Totes

I have been a long time fan of Thirty-one bags.  I have a ton of their Large Utility Totes because they are so useful.  I use them all the time.  The reason that I am loving them right now, though, is because they came in so handy with the move.  I would fill them up, take them to the new house, unload the stuff inside to its proper location, and then head back to the rental for another load.  If you don’t have one (or more) of these, you are missing out.  They are great for the beach, for corralling things in the back of your car, traveling, grocery shopping, and so many more things.

2. Essie Nail Polish-Play Date

I picked up this beautiful nail polish at Target a couple of weeks ago.  I thought it would be the perfect color for spring, and I was right. It is so pretty on.  I don’t have a pic to show you what it looks like on me because I had to take it off.  Thanks to all of the moving, I have destroyed my nails.  I have broken every single one of them down as far as they can go without loosing the whole nail.  Needless to say, they are certainly not picture worthy at the moment.  I cannot wait until they grow back out and I can use this color again.  I think purple may have become my new favorite color.  I am all about purple these days.

3. Worthy Shirt by Joyfully Rooted

With Easter just a couple of days away, I am reminded that I am worthy enough for God to send his son to die for me.  Today I am wearing two things that I love that are great reminders of that for me. The first is a shirt I purchased a few months ago from Etsy that simple says “Worthy” on it with a reference to Ephesians 4:1.  I love this shirt so much. I love it not only because of the message but because it is super soft and comfy and the word is in one of my new favorite colors, rose gold.

4. Worthy Necklace

The second thing that I am wearing today that reminds me that I am worthy and that pairs so perfectly with my shirt is my Worthy Necklace from Trades of Hope that is also rose gold.  How pretty is it? I love it so much. It is so dainty and cute!

5. Closet America

Since we officially moved into our new house on Monday, I have been working on getting my new closet just how I want it.  I am so in love with the design and all of the elements I was able to add to get the dream closet that I have always wanted.  I am so grateful that I came across Closet America at a home show a few months ago.  I know I have said it before, but they were amazing to work with from the designer to the installers.  I am in love with my closet!

Well, that’s a wrap on my top 5 for this week! What are you loving right now?

Friday Favorites: Top 5

It is time for another top 5.  Today I am going to share with you 5 quick things that I am loving right now.

1. App: Pixel Art

I have actually been loving this App for a while.  I don’t know why, but it is soothing for me to color on this app.  It is totally like a kid’s color by number, but I am obsessed with it. It is like a time to calm my brain as I am doing something mindless.  I’ve been using it a lot this week as the hits keep coming. It is a great way to distract me.

2. Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner

I love these two products.  I have been using this shampoo and conditioner (Amazon) for years. Yes, they are on the pricier side, but I believe they are both well worth the money. Plus, you really don’t need a lot of either product to get your desired results so it will last you a while.  My hair can get dry and start to feel like straw, but these two products keep it hydrated, shiny, and soft. I love the cool, tingling feeling you get from the conditioner on your scalp. It has sort of a peppermint smell to it that is great too! I LOVE this duo!

3. Song: “Beautiful Crazy” by Luke Combs

I am a long time country music fan, and I have become a fan of newcomer Luke Combs.  I have loved every song he has put out. Currently I am in love with his latest song.  It is a song that gets stuck in my head that I don’t mind being stuck with.   Maybe it’s because I identify with it.  I think my husband thinks I am crazy all the time, so I hope that my crazy is beautiful to him.  Haha! Wishful thinking, right?

4. Posture Corrector

I have been looking at this posture corrector on Amazon for over a year.  I have always had hunched over shoulders.  My mom and my grandmother used to (still do) always tell me to stand up straight.  Anyway, I had my eye on this contraption for a while.  I thought that it might help with my back pain.  Then I found out that a friend uses one to help with her migraines. You all know that I suffer from migraines as well.  That was the tipping point for me and convinced me that it was time to pull the trigger and buy it.  There are many different ones on Amazon.  This is the one I chose.  I really do think it is helping with my back.  The jury is still out on if it is helping my migraines or not. I don’t think I have been using it long enough to determine that, yet.  It recommends that you ease in to it and only wear it a little each day at first.  I am slowly building up to longer periods. So far, I am loving it.

5. Trading Spaces

Back in the 90’s the pioneer for home-remodeling shows was the show Trading Spaces on TLC. I was obsessed with the show back then and was dying to be on it.  My sister and I tried to convince my mom to apply to be on it. In the show two sets of neighbors switch houses for 2 days and redecorate one room in each other’s house.  It is all completely a surprise and the big reveal was always exciting waiting to see what the couple’s reaction would be to seeing their new room.  Sometimes they totally love it and sometimes they totally hate it and it is very clear.  Anyway, I was so excited when TLC announced the reboot of the show with many of the original cast members last year.  The second season of the reboot began last week.  I really love this show.  Yes, it is a bit corny now, but I love it anyway.

That’s a wrap on my top 5 this week!
