Lions, Tigers, and Bears! Oh, My!

What is your favorite season? Mine is definitely fall.  Living in South Georgia for the past 3 years has been tough because there really is no fall there. In fact there is really only one season there…summer! I missed fall a lot during the three years we lived there.  I am so happy to be back further north where we will actually have 4 seasons a year.  I HATE being hot, so summer is probably my least favorite season.  I’m not really a beach girl because I can’t stand the sand all over me or the creatures swimming out in the ocean. (Remember, I don’t like animals of any kind.) Oh, and let’s no forget the dreaded swimsuit and having to shave everyday! The only thing I really like about summer is that it is usually the time for family vacations, and there is no school. Other than that, I am not in love with summer. I know that is probably the opposite of most of the world as many people live for their summers, but I just don’t feel the same.  Spring brings on the pollen, allergies, and the beginning of the heat so it is probably my next least favorite.  I know that this is an unpopular opinion but I actually like winter, and it is definitely a close second to fall.  I LOVE the cold.  I love sitting by the fire.  I love curling up inside a warm house covered with a blanket with a good book or movie. I love Christmas and time with family through the holidays.  Sweaters and boots and jeans are my jam.  Snow is so pretty.  I love looking out the window and seeing the world around me covered in white.  Of course, I don’t like to be out in it getting all wet. If you haven’t figured it out yet, I do not like to be dirty.  LOL! It’s just another part of my self-diagnosed OCD.  As a teacher, I loved getting snow days off, too.  Many of the same reasons that I love winter are why I love fall most of all. I love it when the air starts to get crisp.   Any temperature between 55 and 75 makes me happy. The changing leaves on the trees in the fall are just gorgeous to me.  I love the shades of orange, yellow, and red.  It is breathtaking.  I was a cheerleader in high school and cheering during the fall football games brings happy memories. Fall is also the start of a new school year and school supplies, and I might have a slight obsession with school supplies. The reasons I love fall are numerous, so I will just leave you with those.

Now on to the real topic of today’s post.  Fall fashion trends.  For the next few Mondays, I will be sharing some of my favorite fall trends.  I absolutely love clothes.  If you were to see my closet you would see that I am a shop-aholic. I really do have a problem.  I admit it! My husband has to put me on shopping restriction sometimes. Although, he would tell you that I never really do stop.  I just can’t!  I really can’t pass up a deal.  I love a good sale.  My favorite places to shop are really stores that won’t break the bank.  Target is my absolute favorite, but I also love Old Navy, Kohl’s, TJ Maxx, and Nordstrom Rack.  Another favorite is to go to outlet malls to shop at places like J. Crew, Gap, Banana Republic, and American Eagle at a discount. I will also say that Walmart has stepped up their clothing game lately, and I have gotten some cute things from there that I will be sharing with you soon.  I am also kind of obsessed with Lularoe so you will see a lot of those pieces make their way into my outfits.

One of the big trends for this fall is animal print.  I would say that I think animal print has been on trend for several years, and this fall is no different.  Leopard or cheetah is probably the most popular of animal prints; but zebra, snake, and others animals can be seen when out shopping.  Most of my animal print is from previous seasons and no longer available, so I have compiled some of my outfits for you so get some ideas of how you can style animal print and add it to your wardrobe.  You can see that there are ways to subtlety add it and also ways you can go all out.  I tried to find some items that are similar to the ones that I have so you can purchase if interested, but I encourage you to use these outfits as inspiration to find your own style with animal print.

Outfit #1

This outfit is simple and only adds a little pop of animal print in the shoes.  You guys, these shoes are my new obsession.  I got them at Target, and they are comfy and so cute! You may see them appear in another fall trend soon in another pattern. Wink, wink! The vest I am wearing is from Lularoe and all of their pieces are limited edition.  Any type of vest or cardigan would work with this outfit, though.

Outfit #2

This is another simple outfit that you can spice up with just a hint of leopard print with the belt.  You could put a variety of colored tops with this look. The possibilities are endless.  The good thing about most animal prints is that they pretty much can go with most anything.

Scarves are a great way to add a touch of animal print.  I love scarves for both fall and winter.  I have even been known to wear them in the spring and summer as well.  They are such a fun way to add a little bit of interest to your outfit.

Animal print dresses are so fun.  This one is a Carly from Lularoe and if you know anything about LLR, you will understand when I say that this dress was one of my unicorns, and I am so glad that I found it.  You can add a pair of leggings underneath for warmth or to cover up your stark white legs like mine!

Graphic tees were pretty popular for a while.  I think the trend is dying down, but it is still a great way to incorporate animal print into your outfit.  For those cooler fall evenings, throw on a jean jacket or a vest and you are good to go.

I love a good cardigan and this one from Lularoe is super soft and cozy which makes it even more fabulous.  Short or long cardigans can add not only warmth to your outfit, but they can also add a little fun or pop of color.

Outfits #8 and #9

A bright pop of color is another great trend for this fall so why not mix the two? Both have been seen all over the runway for this season.  In the first outfit I have the bright pink pop of color with a subtle note of animal print in the shoes.  In the second outfit, I have the pop of red in the pants with a neutral top and animal print flats.  Put these two trend together, and you are ready to walk out the door looking cute. Side note: The red pants below are some of my favorite pants.  They are stretchy and super comfy.  I have them in several colors.

As you can see, there are many ways to add animal print into the wardrobe you already have.  It can take your outfit from drab to fab in an instant.  Check out my Pinterest Board to get some more inspiration. Go find the inner animal in yourself and give this trend a try.  Show me what you come up with!
